Well, according to this story, it appears Jimmy Carter feels that old people, poor people and black people are too ignorant, lazy or apathetic to be able to go out and get themselves a state issued ID for presentation at the voting booth.
GA has recently passed a law requiring identification (GA driver's license, state issued ID or US passport) for proof of identity in order to vote.
The funny thing is that many black "leaders" will jump right up with Carter to proclaim the black community too stupid or lazy to be able to get an ID card. They somehow make it to voter registration, they somehow make it to the polls in order to vote, yet they are simply unable to acquire the same ID required to rent a friggin movie at Blockbuster.
Personally, I would be insulted to have someone come to my "defense" and proclaim me unable to go out and get myself an ID. I mean is President Carter actually insinuating that all black people are poor? Lazy? Simply apathetic?
